Welcome to Alamo
A suburb of San Francisco, Alamo is one of the best places to live in Contra Costa County. With a population of just over 15,000 residents, it’s known for being a charming, inviting, and family-friendly community. Alamo is located 22 miles from San Francisco, offering residents the best of small-town living with big-city conveniences close by. Residents enjoy plenty to do, from easy access to nature to restaurants, coffee shops, and parks.
People have lived in the area for thousands of years. In 1935, the Mexican government took over the area and divided the land into ranch-sized properties. In 1854, two settlers purchased two ranches, and the area began to grow rapidly after the railroad was established in the 1890s. Since then, Alamo has transformed into the vibrant, welcoming community it is today.
Alamo is predominantly home to single detached homes and townhouses. Popular architectural styles range from ranch-style to Colonial.
